Justin Shaffer is a vinyl DJ. Born and raised in New York City, music has always been a significant part of his life. He’s been a musician, event producer, audio engineer, and now a discerning selector. Since 2010 he’s been gathering people and building community in San Francisco. As of 2024, he now resides in Berlin.

For the past three years, Justin has shifted his musical focus to DJing, with a strong preference for vinyl. He is an enthusiast and a passionate storyteller with a critical, musical ear.

Justin’s musical journey started classically. After 12 years of the cello, he also explored  jazz via the tenor sax. Concurrently, he found electronic music via the bittersweet tail of the pre-Giuliani NYC house music scene, a period from which he continues to draw inspiration.

In the 2000s, he shifted his energy and focus from classical and jazz performance to studio work and audio engineering. This path eventually led him to a deep commitment to the acoustic experience, a move to the west coast, a reinvigorated interest in electronic music, and then the last decade spent focused on audio engineering, musical curation, and producing experiences, predominantly with the Robot Heart crew.

His sets have moved dance floors in Australia, California, Costa Rica, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nevada, New York, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Texas, UK, and more.
